Found out from Doctor Ellagala on April 8th that all my back problems, pain, etc was from a birth defect... I was floored. I always believed it was from a fall down some steps when I was 18.
On April 16th...our wedding anniversary...I had surgery. Two rods and four screws were put in to fuse my L5 to my S1. Doctor Ellagala said once he was in it was better than he first thought. Some of the bone had actually started to grow and so he didn't have to go any where near the nerves. I don't know exactly what it all meant but he said it was good news.
I had a huge amount of pain after but I was able to leave the hospital the day after the surgery. I have a brace to wear when I am not laying down. I go to my post-op appointment on May 15.
Two weeks after and I'm feeling much better. I still have some pain but its getting better. I went to the Heart of Virginia Saturday and then went to the fire works that night and over did it a bit. The last couple of days I have had a lot of pain in my left hip. But I'm still glad I went because I had a good time.
I'm hoping that I'm pain free very soon. The house is so disgustingly dirty that I'm getting sick of looking at it. I have a vision of what I want my home to be and I can't wait for it to be that. The home I've always dreamt of. Michael cleaned up some today and it does look better but it's not even close to what I want it to be.
I am very worried about Andrew. He is back on his methadone and it is effecting him very badly. The side effects are:
feeling anxious, nervous, or restless;
sleep problems (insomnia);
feeling weak or drowsy;
dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, loss of appetite; or
decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm.
He is experiencing most, if not all, of these.
